Hello, remember me? I’m the author of this site. I used to write pretty frequently in this space but as you can tell from my archives, I haven’t written anything meaningful since August (or ever if you’re really feeling cruel). In fact I haven’t even looked at this site since September. It’s not that I didn’t know that I wasn’t writing; that part is pretty obvious but I really couldn’t come up with much to say.
It’s also not that there haven’t been goings-on in my life either. In fact these last two months have been some of the busiest I’ve known for quite some time. Perhaps that’s part of the problem – the busier I get, the less time I have for writing anyway and since my job requires me to spend a great deal of time in front of a computer, I’m not inclined to spend a great deal of time in the evenings writing about whatever strikes my fancy.
I have become obsessed (obsessed!) with metrics recently. Car statistics is one of the metrics that I have consistently been tracking since June. Also personal finance is something that I have become really interested in. I’ve read numerous books and I have quite a few personal finance blogs (or pfblogs for those of you in-the-know) on my reading list (by the way I love the new Google Reader). I judiciously track our spending using Quicken 2006 (no need for the upgrade to 2007 yet). It’s very encouraging to watch our balances fall (credit that is; savings would be a different emotion). I know that we’re well on our way to financial freedom and once we get there it will really be a big sense of accomplishment.
I’m hoping to find some more time to write here because I really do enjoy it. The only problem is that life gets in the way and to be honest, living my actual life is more enjoyable anyway especially these days. Things are a little uncertain but you need some uncertainty to appreciate what is certain.
So that’s what is new with me these days. Wait a minute, I didn’t really give any specifics of what in fact is new with me. That will come soon enough, don’t you worry. I wouldn’t leave you in the dark for too long.
